Information on how Glenn's hypnosis recordings work...
On each of Glenn's recordings you will be guided
into a state of complete mental and physical
relaxation using the latest hypnotherapy techniques
and soothing background sounds. These sounds are
recorded in specific musical keys and frequencies
which deepen the relaxation effect. There are also a
number of 60 beats-per-minute sound effects that
help to synchronise the left and right hemispheres
of the brain, which in turn creates an extremely
receptive learning state.
Once you are in this optimum learning state, you are
you are giving a number of post hypnotic suggestions
relating to the title of the recording. You are also
instructed to repeat carefully worded affirmations.
These affirmations are profoundly hypnotic and
soothing, allowing you to absorb the phrases on a
very deep level which helps to create new patterns
of behaviour.
Some of Glenn’s recordings also include ‘pink noise’
which is a natural sound similar to waves. The low
frequencies (between 6 & 10hz) emitted by ‘pink
noise’ sounds synchronise with brainwaves and guide
you into a mentally relaxed and creative state. At
the end of the recordings, you will be gently
brought back to full waking consciousness with a
combination of suggestion and music. There are a
number of positive subliminal messages embedded in
the fade out music which maximise the benefits. Some
of the newer recordings also offer an alternative
‘go to sleep’ endings which are ideal for use at
bedtime.
2. Repeating the affirmations
At the point on Glenn’s recordings where you are
instructed to repeat affirmations, connect with
positive feelings (e.g. happiness, joy, love), as
this will help you absorb the affirmations on a very
deep level. You don’t have to repeat the
affirmations out loud if you prefer not to but do
make a strong connection with them. Imagine that you
are drawing the phrases deep inside you so that you
embrace new patterns of behaviour relating to the
title.
Each recording is completely safe and
comes with a clear set of instructions. All
affirmations and subliminal suggestions are clearly
printed on the inside covers.
It is important to
remember that you are being guided, so you will
always be in full control of the whole process. If
at anytime you want to stop, you just open your eyes
and you will be wide awake.
Once you have bought
your recording please feel free to email
or write to us with details of your progress as we
are always striving to improve the series where
possible and your comments are valued.
3. How to use the
recordings...
The recordings work in varying degrees and will be
different for each individual. It is impossible to
give an estimated time, but after a few listens you
should begin to notice some positive changes.
Sometimes the positive changes can be instant and
dramatic. For other people it can be a gradual,
subtle progression into a new pattern of behaviour
over time.
You can listen to any title as often as you like and
it is said that 21 days is an ideal length of time
to change a pattern of behaviour. The key to
absorbing hypnotic suggestion is compounding; the
more you hear the suggestion the quicker your
unconscious mind gets the message. You will then
respond to the suggestion automatically in your
every day life.
So it is best to listen to the recording on a daily basis initially, and continue until
you have reached your goal or overcome the problem.
You may even choose to continue listening
indefinitely. With the Weight Loss title for
example, you can continue to use the recording
even after you reach your target weight, as
it will re-enforce your determination to remain in
control of your weight and keep you focused.
Once you have bought your title please feel free to
email or write to us with details of your progress
as we are always striving to improve the series
where possible and your comments are valued.
4.
Listening to more than one hypnosis title at a time...
It is probably best to listen to one title at
a time to allow your mind to focus on one goal.
However, some titles will work fine with others as
the issues are closely related. For example, the
Self-Esteem title will work fine in conjunction with
the Think Positively, Self-Confidence, or even
Weight Loss title. However, it is not be so good to
listen to Smoking and Weight together as both are
separate goals that need your full attention.
As for time span, it really depends on how you feel
yourself. For example, if after listening to the
weight title for 2 months you feel you have conquered
the problem, then you can move on to another goal,
although a top up listen every now and again is a
good idea. If after this time you are still
struggling with eating habits, then continue working
with the title and perhaps seek additional one to
one help from a good therapist.
5. Customised
hypnosis recordings...
We are always working on new commercial titles covering an
ever-expanding range of subjects. There is much time and care
spent producing new titles so it is costly and time consuming
to produce a personalised recording. However when we have to
put a price on producing a one off, our usual quote is
approximately £2,000 depending on what is required.

6. If you fall asleep listening to the recordings...
If you fall asleep listening to the recording but you still
hear the count up at the end of the track, you have
probably been in a deep trance throughout. In this
state you will still be absorbing all the
suggestions on an unconscious level. If you don't
hear the count up at the end you have probably
drifted into a deep sleep at some point. In this
case you will probably only absorb the suggestions
to the point where you went into a deeper sleep. If
this is the case we suggest you listen at a time
when you are not tired.

How the hypnosis DVDs/Videos work
(This only applies to the Glenn Harrold hypnotherapy DVDs/videos)
On each DVD/video, Glenn Harrold guides you into a deeply
relaxed state of mental and physical relaxation. In
this very receptive relaxed state, you are given a
number of post hypnotic and direct suggestions.
The absorbing hypnotic visual imagery combined with
the powerful hypnosis audio track amplifies the trance
and therefore increases the absorption of the
suggestions. There are also a number of background
echoed affirmations, which pan from left to right
across the stereo range. These deeply relaxing and
powerful methods of delivering multiple suggestions
simultaneously to the unconscious mind can
facilitate positive changes quickly and efficiently.
The subliminal messages that flash up on the screen
every now and again are on screen for 1/25th of a
second. These phrases bypass your conscious
awareness, and are absorbed and accepted
unconditionally by your unconscious mind. You do not
need to read these phrases.
At the end of the DVD/video you will be guided back to
full consciousness.
The subliminal suggestions are printed on the cover
of each DVD/video title.
8.
How to use the hypnosis DVDs/videos
(This only applies to the Glenn Harrold hypnotherapy DVDs/videos)
You need to create a time and space where you can
watch the DVD/video hypnotherapy session from start to
finish. Each DVD/video will guide you into a hypnotic
trance state and then bring you back to full waking
consciousness at the end. It is important to watch
and listen to the sessions in their entirety.
It is best to use the DVDs/videos at a quiet time when you
will not be disturbed. If possible, listen through
headphones so you will not be distrurbed and the
suggestions will be integrated on a deep level.
However this is not essential and normal TV or PC
speakers will work just fine.
When you see the subliminal phrases (printed on back
cover) flash on your screen for a split second, you
do not need to consciously read them. In your
relaxed state your unconscious mind will naturally
absorb these affirmations. It is preferable that you
do not attempt to read them.
It is recommended that you initially watch the
individual DVDs/videos on a daily basis. Take a moment to
focus consciously on what you want to achieve before
you begin each session.
The DVDs/videos are completely safe and very effective
when you follow all the instructions clearly.
Please Note: If you fall asleep before finish
watching a DVD/video you will naturally awaken in your own
time. If you are interrupted before the end just
count up to 10 and affirm that you are awake and you
will feel fine.
9. Technical issues with iPhone and iPad Apps...
If you have a techical issue issue with one of Glenn's iPhone or iPad apps, please email our App developers
i-mobilize at

10. New
versions and new titles...
Every so often Glenn will remix some of his existing hypnosis
titles. Titles with new covers will have been recently re-recorded
or remixed. The clinical hypnosis content of the recordings remains
largely unchanged but the audio will typically have a new piece of
intro or background music and the spoken word content will be
remixed or occasionally re-recorded. This is always done
with the aim of creating the best possible recordings
with the most highly effective content.
We will be releasing a number of new Glenn Harrold
CDs, Books and DVDs/videos this year as well as adding to
the wonderful range of Calm For Kids CDs by Christiane Kerr, Sacred Light Angel Meditations by
Jan Yoxall and Simple Truth Meditations by Lucinda
Drayton.

Finding a good therapist/training organisations...
If you are looking for a therapist, The British School
of Clinical Hypnosis have many practitioners
throughout the UK. The organisation and the training
are of the highest standard, although the quality of
individuals can vary. We suggest you call a few
locally, and look for someone who you feel
comfortable with. Good therapy is all about dynamics
between the therapist and client. Finding a good
therapist who inspires you and who can get to the
root of the problems is the key.
Another organisation called the APHP has therapists
in the UK. These are well-qualified therapists who
have organised their own group and have hand picked
other therapists to join them. So on the whole they
should be good.

What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness. There are arguments
for and against it being a ‘special’ state but having hypnotized
thousands of people in one to one situations I know this ‘special’
state exists. It is true that suggestions can be given and acted
upon in normal waking consciousness but suggestions are far more
effective when delivered to a person in an altered state brought
on by a hypnotic induction.
People sometimes shy away from hypnosis but often this is because
they misunderstand what it actually is. Much of the misunderstanding
of hypnosis comes from stage shows and the way that it is portrayed
in the media. Stories about hypnosis only tend to make the news if
there is a problem or if it is misused.
In reality hypnosis works very simply. In a professional one to one
situation hypnosis is achieved by using various techniques to guide
the client in to deeper levels of relaxation. It is often a gentle
progression from waking consciousness into a deep level of mental
and physical relaxation, rather than a flashy click of the fingers
that you might see on TV or in stage shows.
When you are in a hypnotic state you will still be aware of your
surroundings even as you drift into deeper states. It can sometimes
feel as though very little is happening and that you can open your
eyes at any time and be wide-awake. This is because being under
hypnosis doesn’t feel unusual. It doesn’t create a special feeling
and so people often don’t realize when they are under hypnosis.
Being in an altered state of consciousness or in a hypnotic trance
is actually something you will experience naturally many times in
your life. For example, just before you fall asleep each night and
before you are fully awake in the morning you are in a trance state
that everyone on the planet experiences. These morning and evening
trance states are called the hypnogogic and hypnopompic states.
Daydreaming is another naturally occurring trance state that is
familiar to all of us and one that is similar to being in a light
state of hypnosis.
When you are in a deep level of mental and physical relaxation you
become receptive to suggestions and accepting suggestions is the
key to using hypnosis as a therapeutic tool. A post hypnotic
suggestion is a suggestion given that will be acted upon at a later
time. For example if a post-hypnotic suggestion is given that “as
soon as your head touches the pillow each night, you will find it
easy to go into a deep relaxing sleep.” When a suggestion like this
is accepted by your unconscious mind the next time you go to bed
and your head touches the pillow you will indeed find it easy to
go to sleep.
We spend most of our time in our conscious thoughts and only
sporadically tap into our unconscious mind when we daydream or get
creative ideas. The only other time we spend in our unconscious
thoughts is when we are sleeping, when our conscious mind has
switched off. Learning to connect with your deep unconscious
mind through hypnosis can help you in so many different ways
to achieve goals, find your creativity, or overcome difficulties.
15. Information on Hypnotherapy...
What is hypnotherapy and will I lose control and do
crazy things like I have seen on TV?
Hypnotherapy is one of the most groundbreaking
therapies for facilitating profound change in
people’s lives. Whether someone desires to quit
smoking, lose weight, achieve success, improve their
sleep, develop their confidence, or deal with
childhood issues in an unintrusive way, hypnotherapy
is a powerful way to get quick and amazing results.
It is an aid for personal development, problem
resolution, and self-healing.
Hypnotherapy utilises the power of the unconscious
mind. The unconscious mind is the setting for
creativity, imagination, and human potential. It is
the part of you that drives a car or walks to the
shop even though your mind is wandering to other
places. It is also the place where negative,
limiting beliefs and old patterns are stored. This
is why even when you desperately want to improve
yourself; you just keep playing out that old,
unfulfilling script.
Fortunately hypnosis can speak the language of this
infinitely powerful, yet often draining part of the
mind. With the use of language, communication,
sound, or imagery, one is guided into a trance where
the unconscious mind can be accessed.
In this state of deep relaxation, healing and
transformation can easily take place. Because of
this connection to the unconscious mind, you can
break free from negative ways of thinking and being
that have been keeping you hindered from your
ultimate capacities. Our possibilities as human
being are endless when the unconscious mind is
skilfully tapped into and worked with.
The outdated picture of lying on a couch while
someone dangles a clock above your face as you drift
off to Neverland while the therapist has complete
control over you is fortunately beginning to change
as more people experience the benefits of this
valuable therapy.
And most of us have seen the stage hypnotist make
some guy run around mooing like a cow or doing some
other ridiculous act. While this can be
entertaining, it has nothing to do with
hypnotherapy.
During a hypnotherapy session, you are in complete
control. If you choose to wake up, you just open
your eyes. No one is going to make you do anything
against your will. You are fully conscious of your
surroundings, and in many cases your senses are
heightened.
Anyone can enjoy the results of hypnotherapy. It is
really just an “accelerated meditation” to get us
into a calm state so we can cope more efficiently
and joyfully with life. And now, with modern
technology, we don’t need to be reliant on a
therapist to help us achieve our dreams. In fact we
don’t even need to leave our own home. Just put on
your headphones on a regular basis, and watch as the
positive changes begin to take place.
16. A brief guide on how to use Self-Hypnosis
The following self hypnosis technique will help you to
relax your mind and body in preparation for a good nights
restful sleep. When you use self-hypnosis or you meditate
you allow your mind to rest and recuperate. This
technique is slightly longer than the others in this book
and it will help you reach even deeper levels of mental
and physical relaxation. It will also work wonders
in calming your mind and alleviating stress. If you are
constantly going over problems in your mind, your thinking
and judgement becomes clouded. This technique helps free
you from these problems. Once you get the hang of it you
will be amazed at how good you will feel in the morning.
Stop at this point and read the script through a few times
until you know what to do and then practise this technique
every day.
You will find that the more you practise self hypnosis,
the deeper into trance you will go each time, and the
better you will get at de-stressing your mind.
Preparing yourself
When you are lying down in bed and ready for sleep tell
yourself silently that you are going to use self-hypnosis
to go to sleep.
The basic breathing technique -
Close your eyes and begin to breathe very slowly and deeply
in through your nose and out through your mouth. Make each
circular breath long and deep, and at the top of your breath
hold it for three seconds, and then count to five on every
out-breath. As you breathe out imagine you are breathing
away any nervous tension left in your body.
You can also say the word relax on every out-breath if you wish.
Continue this breathing pattern ten or more times, or as long
as it takes for you to feel completely relaxed.
The diaphragmatic breathing technique
Once you get the hang of the basic breathing technique you
can add diaphragmatic breathing to the basic technique. So
make sure that you breathe from your diaphragm (lower chest
and stomach area) and not from the upper chest. Watch what
happens to your body as you breathe. If you are breathing
properly your stomach will go out as you breathe in, and
will go in as you breathe out. This can take a little
practice if you are unused to diaphragmatic breathing.
Clearing your mind
Allow your mind to go completely blank. Don’t worry if you
still get unwanted thoughts drifting into your mind; tell
yourself not to fight them, as they will soon drift away
again. Every time you get an unwanted thought, imagine a
large red stop sign. As soon as you see the red stop
sign imagine the thought disappearing and your mind
becoming clear.
Another thought-clearing technique is to imagine a large
computer screen full of data that becomes blank by
hitting a keypad. Imagine that by pressing a keypad you
can clear your mind. Another method is to imagine you are
looking up at the sky on a pleasant summer’s day. You notice
a few small clouds that drift across the sky and then fade
away. Eventually all of the clouds have drifted away and the
sky is clear. Imagine your conscious thoughts are like clouds
that fade away. Use whatever method works for you.
Relaxing your body
Now you can relax your body. Imagine every muscle from the
top of your head to the tips of your toes completely relaxing.
You can start at the top and systematically work your way down
to your toes. Imagine your eyelids have become heavy and tired
and any tension in your forehead is disappearing. All the
muscles there are becoming loose and relaxed.
Continue this pattern and imagine all the muscles relaxing
in your jaw, neck, shoulders, back, arms and legs. Imagine the
relaxation spreading down through your body letting go of any
tightness or tension in the muscles. You can visualise the muscles
relaxing and spend extra time relaxing any part of your body
that holds more tension. Allow the outside world to fade into
the background and continue your journey into your inner world.
Utilizing the trance state with affirmations
When you have finished your body relaxation and you are completely
relaxed from head to toe, you can affirm the following affirmations.
It is important you only repeat these affirmations word for word as
they are below. I’ll discuss affirmations in more detail later on.
When you affirm these affirmations imagine every part of you absorbing
the phrases with real belief, and use your feelings and emotions to
supercharge them so that every cell in your mind and body resonates
with each positive affirmation.
I sleep easily at night
I feel deeply relaxed
I feel calm and centred
I love to sleep at night
At this point you can allow yourself to drift off in to a deep natural sleep from which you will awaken feeling refreshed.
Please note
Do not worry if, when you first practice self-hypnosis, you don’t think
much happened. The more you practice the easier it becomes to switch off
and go into trance. Just the fact that you laid in bed and centred yourself
by closing your eyes and relaxing will have benefited you.
You will be surprised at how effective affirmations can be in even the
lightest of trances. The power of the unconscious mind works in a very
subtle way. The most important thing to remember is to enjoy the process
and to have faith, because as with all things, the more you practice the
better you become!
